This little recipe is so easy and so delicious, you really have to make it. Pickled red onion - or pickled red onion - is an incredibly delicious condiment that can go with many different dishes. This recipe is the base of the base, if you want you can flavor it further yourself with, for example, peppercorns and cloves, but that is not necessary at all.

In Groenvoer from Tobias Camman ️ I read the tip to first briefly soak the onions in the pickle juice cook. This takes off the sharp onion flavor a bit, leaving you with even tastier onions. He is right! Do let them cool a bit before using them.

Tips

  • In a hurry? Then skip the step to cook the onions. According to VEGAN from The Happy Pear, 10 minutes soaking is enough to get pickled onions, but they do get tastier the longer they stand
  • Not in a hurry? Make them a day in advance. They'll only get tastier
  • Store the onions in a weck jar in the refrigerator. This way they will stay good for a few months
