In 2017, I had a smoothie period. Every morning I started with a green smoothie, which had all kinds of things in it. Not just spinach and orange, but kale or even granola to give it extra filling. Then it's handy to have a blender that purees it all into a drinkable whole. I bought a blender from Magimix and still use it regularly.

When the smoothie season is over, though, I use the blender mostly for soup and sauce. Especially for plant-based recipes, where you make vegetable or cashew-based sauces more often, a powerful blender can come in very useful.

Magimix Blender Power

The Magimix Blender Power is a sturdy blender with a fairly neutral look. It has 5 automatic programs (including 1 to clean the jug), but you can also set the speed yourself. The latter can be done in very small steps. After setting the desired program or speed, control goes with 3 buttons: Stop, Auto and Pulse. This all pretty much speaks for itself: with Stop the blender stops, with Auto the blender runs the desired program and with Pulse the machine runs at full speed as long as you keep pressing the button.

The Magimix Blender Power comes in 3 variants: the Blender Power 3, Plender Power 4 and the Blender Power 5 XL. These differ in processing volume and power. The Blender Power 3 is the smallest, with a processing volume of 1.2 liters and power of 1000 W. If you like to use your blender for larger quantities of soup, this one might be on the small side. The Blender Power 4 has a processing volume of 1.8 liters and an output of 1300 W, so not only can you blend more at once with this one, it's also more powerful. Finally, there is the Blender Power 5 XL. With a processing volume of 2 liters and 1500 W of power, this blender is the most powerful. So very suitable for nice large quantities of soup.

I have an older model, similar to the Blender Power 4. So my experiences are based on that

Why a Magimix blender

As you may have read in the article about the Magimix CS 4200XL food processor, I find products from this brand worth the extra price. Over €200 is a lot of money for a blender, especially if you compare it to other blenders at Coolblue ️. Most blender are under or around €100. For example, a popular blender with good reviews is the Tefal PerfectMix+ BL81G8. Like the Magimix, it has a glass blender jug and also similar power. The Philips 7000 Series High Speed Blender HR3760/00 is comparable in capacity and power to the Magimix Blender Power 5 XL for less than half the price. Both blenders also get good reviews.

So why choose a Magimix blender anyway? In terms of user experience and ease of use, unfortunately, I cannot make a comparison between the different blenders. I only have experience with the Magimix. My choice of Magimix had several reasons. Besides ease of use, durability was an important item. Previous kitchen appliances had given up the ghost because a small but essential plastic part had broken off. This could not be replaced, with the result that the entire machine was thrown out for scrap.

Magimix does things differently. There they assume that kitchen appliances should have a long lifespan. My blender came with a shorter warranty period, but since 2020 Magimix gives a 30-year warranty on the motor. With the Tefal and Philips blenders mentioned above, you only get a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. In addition, Magimix guarantees that parts are on sale for 30 years. So should something break, or if you want something spare, you can assume that you can buy it for the foreseeable future.

Another reason to choose Magimix is that they don't release new models every year, and if they do they usually opt for the same design. As a result, you can often use new accessories on your older model as well.

What's great about the Magimix blender

So Magimix is a brand where they stand for durability, and where you buy a kitchen appliance for a long period of time. Especially if you expect your blender to last 30 years, it does matter that it is also pleasant to use.

Ease of use

There are several points that contribute to ease of use. One of the main ones is how easy the blender is to operate. The operation of the Magimix Blender Power is certainly not complicated. There are 4 automatic programs: for ice cream, smoothies, soup and desserts. I mainly used the programs for smoothies and soup, and they work very well. Better than when I try to make smoothies or soup with the manual setting. I do use that one for making cashew-based sauce.

Another thing handy about the blender is that there is a small measuring cup in the lid. You can take this out of the lid when the blender is running (and not splashing too much against the lid) to add some extra liquid. The included mixing spatula is also very handy. It allows you to push down food stuck to the sides without hitting the blades.

Power

An advantage of this blender over less powerful ones is that it effortlessly gives smooth cashew sauce without the need to soak the cashews first. Because the blender has so much power, it finishes blending your ingredients nicely anyway. quick . Smoothies become really nice and smooth and soups silky smooth.

Cleaning

An annoying feature of all kitchen appliances is that you have to clean them after use. With the Magimix food processor, that can sometimes be quite a chore. Fortunately, the Magimix Power Blender makes it a lot easier. With the automatic cleaning mode you already remove most of the food residue, after which you only need to rinse and dry the various parts. The parts can also go in the dishwasher, but I don't find that necessary. The jug doesn't seem to fit in every dishwasher either.

One difference between my blender and current blenders from Magimix is that the more recent models have bluetooth. This allows you to control the blender with your phone as well. Whether this actually adds value I do not know, but it is a nice addition.

Sustainability

Most about the durability of the Magimix Blender Power has already been said. The long warranty and assurance that parts will be available for a long time are, of course, obvious advantages. But the blender is also made of durable materials. The blender jug is made of sturdy (heat-resistant!) borosilicate glass and all plastic parts are BPA free.

Cons

The Magimix power blender is a fine and powerful machine, with which you can puree anything pretty quick smooth. However, the machine also has a few drawbacks.

  • Price - With a suggested retail price of €249, this is not a cheap blender.
  • Minimum quantity - The minimum quantity to prepare is quite large. This is mainly because the blade sits quite high above the base. For smaller quantities, more and more often use the Bamix hand blender.
  • Difficult to get everything out of the blender jug - Especially with a slightly thicker substance, such as a slightly thicker cashew sauce to accompany the lentil nacho bowl or sauce for vegetable mac and cheese, it is sometimes quite a hassle to get everything out of the blender jug.
  • Heavy - The blender jug is made of sturdy and heat-resistant borosilicate glass. This is mainly an advantage, but there is an immediate downside: it is a heavy jug. Especially when it is full, it becomes heavy.

Conclusion

In this article, I have outlined the pros and cons of the Magimix Blender Power, based on my experiences since 2017. I still find it a very nice device and am glad I opted for a slightly more expensive and more durable one at the time. The purchase price is high, but for that you get a very powerful blender that effortlessly makes the smoothest smoothies.
